Before I start about today I want to recur to yesterday. Because after dinner we went for a little walk to find a café terrace to have something to drink. After the refreshing drink we went back to the hotel room. Once I was back in my room I noticed that the air conditioning wasn't working. So I walked downstairs to the reception to tell that the air conditioning wasn't working. A hotel employee followed me to the room, and he too noticed it's not working. So he walked to the fuse box and turned it on, and now it was working. So I thanked him and wanted to prepare to go to bed when all of a sudden I heard a loud bang, and there I stood in the darkness... Oops! Now I didn't have any power in the room. Once again I walked downstairs and said to the employee that how I don't have any power in my room. So again he followed me to the room (with a key of a replacement room) and again he noticed as well that there's no power. So in a hurry I had to collect all my stuff, and we went to the replacement room I was assigned to. Luckily everything in this room is working properly! :) And now about today...
After breakfast we got into the bus and drove to one of the three royal palaces here in Fes. This royal palace is the biggest of three, but is only used for official visits. At this palace we got out of the bus to take a picture of the gate, after that we walked to the Jewish quarter of the medina where we saw a few synagogues.
After a bit of a meager breakfast, which was luckily just enough to start the day, we drove to Volubilis with the bus. Here we visited a Roman ruin complex, where well maintained mosaic floors from the 1st and 2nd century were visible.
After breakfast we continued our journey to Meknès, where we first stopped at the capital of Morocco, Rabat. Where we spent the biggest part of the day.
On our first full day in Morocco we went to the botanical garden of Marrakesh (Majorelle), after our breakfast. Here there are mainly cacti, palm trees, bamboo and other tropical plants, trees and bushes. After visiting the botanical garden we drove by bus to Casablanca.
Today is finally the day! The first post-covid adventure starts, although I've already been in Israel in June, but that's more like a family visit than an adventure. The journey starts today with a car drive towards Rotterdam The Hague Airport and from there on to Marrakesh by plane.
