Today we left the last location before going back to Bangkok already. After getting up early (we would supposed to be picked up between 6:30 and 6:40 AM by a minivan) I had to pack up the last things in the suitcase which wasn't that easy. After finally completing this we were waiting at the reception for our transport. When that finally arrived we drove back to the ferry (after picking up some more people at other lodges on the way).
For today there's actually not much on the program, except relaxing. With a good breakfast on the stomach we went snorkeling and the gods were with us today. During snorkeling we saw a lot of beautiful fish, big and small. Including moon fish and horn pike. But also crabs and a hermit crab.
Today we had to get up early again, because we are supposed to be picked up at 8:00 AM by a minivan to go to our next destination: Koh Lanta! The day started with a quick breakfast, so we could board the minivan on time, the minivan also picked up other people from other lodges, and then we drove for about two hours to a central place.
The last few days I stayed at a remote place, that's why I wasn't able to publish a post. But in this update you'll read all about the last three days!
Today we had to get up real early, because between 6:30 and 7:00 AM we would be picked up to go to the elephant sanctuary. On our way we stopped a few times to pick up other people at other guest houses. After driving for a short while we stopped at a gas station for coffee and tea. After that we continued our way for 1.5 hours to the sanctuary.
Waking up after a good sleep and with a message saying that Ajax had won the Champion League match makes immediately a great start of the day! Time for Thai breakfast once again (same as yesterday). After breakfast, we packed our suitcases and put in the back of the pick-up truck. Our hostess will take us to the bus station (not the one where we arrived yesterday, but another one closer-by in the old city). Here we had to wait for the bus to arrive, but once arrived we had to take a ride with it to Chiang Mai for the next 5 hours on!
Today we had our first Thai breakfast. This includes fried rice with a boiled egg and a banana for 'desert'. After breakfast we rented bicycles, just like in Ayutthaya and we cycles through the old city. During our second temple-tour we stopped at the ruins of Wat Mahathat and Wat Su Si in the old city and Wat Si Chum (with a big sitting Buddha) and Wat Samphon Hin (to get to this giant standing upright Buddha you have to climb up 300 meters, to a height of 200 meters) outside the old city wall.
After having a nice breakfast once again we were picked up by tuktuk (pre-arranged) and taken to the busstation. I was surprised that 3 people and some suitcases all fits in a tuktuk! Upon arrival at the busstation we hopped in the luxerious, comfortable and modern touringcar. We will ride for 6 hours until Sukhothai, where we will be spending the next two days. We stopped halfway for some lunch, at a foodcorner. Here you could take some food just by showing your busticket.
